Had an Ah Hah moment last night...

when I was digging a target that turned out to be foil wrapper in 8" of fill dirt. The Ah Had was when I realized that the reason the target seemed to be moving around was because as I was disturbing the soil around the target I was probably changing the character of the return signal. I think is more likely to happen with targets that are "multi-faceted" due to being crumpled, bent in multiple places or has an irregular reflection surface like foil usually does.

That sounds about right. Knowing that can really help when you come across another irregularly bouncing signal.

Something like a gold chain could cause the same effect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You NEVER know till you dig it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with James Quote from Randy.... "You NEVER know till you dig it"

Let face it... what does it take to extract the target 2 to 5 minutes and most in the 2-3 minute range.... Dig it... additionally... sometimes that clears up or clarifies another target...

Just my little olde 2 cents...
