Had a V3 converted into a V3i, which other coil 2 buy??

I tend to hunt for jewellry and coins, and relics last.

What coil would be worth buying for the V3i ???
1. 5.3 concentric ?

2. 4 X 6 " coil ?

3. 6 X 10" coil ?

4.Would a Jimmy Sierra HOTFOOT coil work well ???

All are choices but No.4. Jimmy makes no V3 compatible coils a per his site.

As far as the first 3 choices you now see each recommended by at least one person, good luck on that. Really this is a personal choice, and each coil is good for it's intended purpose. Rob

Push come to shove......6x10. Separation is great and you have great ground coverage and depth. That 5.3 (6") is uber smooth and punches deep enough to pull coins from 7"++ and....wouldn't be without that one either. (It's size is light weight and allows you to poke in and around stuff that a bigger coil can't do.) Both.

If you search creek beds, along chain link, or plan on prospecting a bit, a third in line choice....4x6.

The hotfoot? Never ran one so someone else will have to answer that.

I would vote for the 5.3 coil, I've had it and used mine a lot for coin/jewelry picking. It has performed flawlessly and the pinpoint is like having a scope on the V3. In trashy parks, I've picked old coins right next to bottle caps with it, so it has exceptional target separation, I've also plucked some wheaties at 8 inches under tree roots with mine. I personally love my 5.3

The 5.3 is one that I have....but I find myself using the 4x6 just as much as the d2. The 4x6 makes the detector shine in those trashy areas. You will be able to get the depth and separation that was only dreamed about 5 years ago.

OK, as I said now you have one vote for each. Rob[attachment 178292 awesome2.gif]

A lot of people like the 5.3 or the 950. My ground is mineralized and I hunt a lot of trashy sites so I like the 4x6 but I really like the SEF 8x6. Not knowing where you hunt i'd think that you'd want the 5.3

Hi Frank.

I hunt primarilyJewelry & Clad first, then do some old Coin hunting, some causual Gold Nugget hunting and practically no Relic hunting.

I have 4 coils: Stock D2, Bigfoot, 6x10 and a 300MM (12"). I already had the Bigfoot coil. I bought the 6x10 on purpose for gold jewelry hunting. I picked up the 300MM because I walked into a steal deal and I liked that coil with the DFX and the M6 and figured I'd be happy with it on the V3 in a straight 2.5 kHz program for Coin hunting.

I've spent all of my time with the Bigfoot coil and have gotten happy with it.
Now I'm ready to start configuring a 6x10 for just gold jewelry.
I've never hunted ground with the D2 yet.
I've never hunted ground with the 300mm yet.

I'd recommend you pick up a V rated 6x10 as your next coil and tune you up a gold jewelry hunter.

I'm thinking about a 5.3 cause I got $100 coupon to use on one, and turn it into a extreme trash something or other.

Good luck,
Mike

With my soil The DD coils work best.
The 9.5 doesn't get used unless I am at the beach.
I sold my 12" because as I said DD coils work better, so the 12" was heavier and gave me no more depth.
The D2 is my main coil for hunting, a especially for old coins and deep targets.
The 6x10 is my clad and jewelry hunter since it is deep enough for this.
I've got a 5.3 but just don't use it because of where and how I hunt. It is a super coil, but it would be the first I would sell, but just because were I hunt.
