Had a superb hunt today 1-15-12 with new detectorist......

A new guy, new to detecting, Squatch I'll call him, met up today for a hunt. Squatch is new to detecting and he has been hunting in about the same places I have here in the county we live in. When I called him today about 1 pm he was already hunting. I already knew his destination so had a bowl of homemade vegetable soup and was on my way. When I arrived I walked out on the beach and we chatted for several minutes. I was looking up the beach and could tell someone had already hunted it.......a little;)scoop drag marks in several places. Anyway we chatted and I explained to him why I was gonna hunt this certain part of the beach. A slight cut, right about where people would have to stand instead of sit in the water per the level. The lake is way low so this was where that should take place anyway. We went off to hunt. Squatch at the water line, me at the mommy line when the lake is full. The first target I dug was a shocker for me. 1961 Franklin half dollar! Not a couple of minutes into the hunt. I continued digging in the same line and dug six greenie coins plus the half and a St Michael pray for us medallion. This was all in less than 45 minutes! Then it happened, Oh no! The GT's battery was dying.................Ahhhh! I hadn't charged it. Dead and off in less than an hour. Well you live and you learn. I hadn't gone 10 yards hardly with the coil to the ground. Anyway a holler out to Squatch for the "short" on my behalf, hunt. Nice to meet you and we already have plans to do it again next Sunday. I'll be charged and ready. I'm thinking of letting Squatch run the ETrac in TTF over this area......................................... It's up to him;) Here's the pics........

That was a quick productive hunt! Don't feel so bad about the "barely charged" battery. I got all the way over to one of my hunting spots this past Fall and realized my headphones were still back at home on the computer desk lol. :( live and learn. HH - Jim
