Had a relaxing day ....

Went to sleep around 9:30 last night and woke up to the sunrise. Had some coffee, grabbed my shotgun and walked up the road and out into the woods in search of partridge. I didn't see any in the state land but found a nice spot to hunt deer if I ever bring my Mom's rifle up :) Yeah I'd like to buy another detector first!I decided to walk over the bank and hunt the RR tracks near Lake Champlain. I started walking up the tracks admiring the beautiful day and serene lake when I noticed movement about 150 yard away. At first I thought someone was walking their boxer dogs, then I saw the white and black tips on their tails. I sat down on the tracks and watched from afar as 2 foxes playfully trotted closer. They came to within 30 yards before they headed up the hill sensing the big lump in the middle of the tracks was out of place. I then walked closer to the lake and lay down underneath the red pines watching the ducks chase each other around just out of range.
Later on after raking the lawn and flower beds, I took a drive with my father and law around the roads less travelled. The great thing about the Adirondacks is there are stil some left(SHHHH don't tell anyone) :) I brought my gun and detector and jumped in the pickup. It was great to finally have time for a tour. We checked out some land for sale and watched for partridge, then stopped at a plateau with a stonewall. It was not a very appealing spot. I just wanted to show Ed(my father inlaw) how humans were all over the place and it is amazing the areas you can find stuff in. We found a few cut nails then headed on down the road where we found a small cellar hole that produced lots of party trash and the find of the day, a silver....
plated spoon. I was just glad we found something and glad to see Ed trying to guess why it had been lost there next to a large rock. We drove a little more and spied a porceypine up in the tree. I took a pic but we haven't downloaded them yet. the next stop was a giant raised stone foundation, of a house which had recently burned down. .It was awesome. I had high hopes! Well I found two beer cans next to the outhouse and another in front of the house. Time was very, very short so we I pried myself away and we headed home. On the way we passed a large corporate construction sign on a very rural dirt road, bisecting a beautiful stream that is probably full of brookies. The 8' wide sign read"Future site of Lowes 150,000 square foot warehouse" I angrily yelled " those b*s*a*ds!" ed put the truck in reverse and we noticed another sign which read Applebees COMING SOON" we noticed others up the driveway which read employees only, caution speed bumps, etc. I started to see the humor and glad for the message it conveyed.
There was also a bumpersticker on one of the sign which read " The path to hell is paved by republicans" Weather i agree or not, it was still good to see civil discourse in action. right now I'm talking to friends and having a cup of Chamomile tea. From the imortal words of Elson,"LIFE IS GOOD" You all have a good one yourselfs!
