Here's the rundown for the day. I get to the lake and this guy and his wife, suposedly, come up to me in the water to tell me that she lost her wedding ring and could I hunt for it. I asked if she could describe it to me and this is where I got really suspicious. She says she doesn't know what it looks like it's just a gold band. So I ask does it have diamonds and she hesitates and says no. Now I think I'm being set up. I ask is there a reward if I find it and she says no. I'm thinking it's gonna make a nice addition to my collection at that point. So I tell them it's probably lost and unless I walk over it I'm not gonna find it and then I head to the deep water. They say that's ok we'll be here all day. I find a couple of coins then bam a 10k plain wedding band. Things are looking up. Couple more coins then bam another ring. Looks like gold, with a T, but the only markings are MGR inside the band. I keep watching this couple to see what their game is and all of a sudden they decide to leave. Now I'm really suspicious. Why would you leave your wedding ring behind knowing full well that I'm there with a detector. So I keep hunting. A couple more coins and bam another ring, LOL, it's the turtle ring that's 925. I'm riden high now. So I keep hunting and bam another ring only this time it's what looks like a large junk toe ring. Must have been a big woman. Now I decide to start heading out and go through the area where they said the ring was lost, find a couple of coins, a beaded anklet w/dragonfly and then bam another ring. This time it's gold with 19 diamonds in it. Can't tell if it's 10k or very worn 18k. What a great day today. LOL

Patrick,

Really nice haul. Theres always someone that wants a piece of the action but doesnt want to work for it.

When someone tells me they lost a ring and it sounds suspicious, I always ask "Have you filed a police report yet?". I suggest they do that and it usually shuts up the con artists.
