after a two week enforced break from detecting ( visiting family ) i was chomping at the bit to get out swinging :detecting: i had my spot picked & researched, had my gear packed, & i had gold on the mind so at sun up i was off. i"d picked a beach i"d not been to before so was unsure if i would find much when i got there i saw a lovely sight a nice steep beach & small rocks all over the place in the water :).
the detecting started of a bit slow with only pull tabs being found so i moved down a bit & the finds started to flow first was a 1951 penny then a 1947 silver florin & tons of 1c-2c coins there were so many targets the excal had a hard time picking out individual targets ( i"m really have to go back & give it a real good going over ) i was digging targets for three hours solid found the 9k band about half way through then the 18k signet ring pop ed out 5 min later next came the gold plate watch witch had my hart going for for a few moments  also found the cool brass lighter then after lunch the finds slowed down i got the antique silver ring & a few more old coins, a cool old button, an old brass lock & a neat brass whatsit ??.
i started to cop a lot of big waves after this so i moved on. i spotted a likely looking spot a little farther down the targets started to flow again but the waves got bigger so i headed home.

 nice try Terry  when i find a spot like this "mums the word" mate but seeing i"m such a nice fella i"ll give ya a hint it"s in the southern part of Australia .
Gulf Hunter i"m thinking the same thing the area is loaded with so much loot my excal is having a hard time picking out single targets in some places it"s giving choppy signals over a three foot area.
once i finish getting all the solid signals i"ll go back & scoop up all the choppy signals.
thanks

G'day Lazy,

Nice haul there mate.
I spent the Easter break camping, 4wding and prospecting in the high country.
Found bugger all gold in the hills... knew I should have stuck to the beaches.
Still I had a great time.

Once again, well done.

Lou.

sounds like a great long weekend out Lou  yeah i use to hunt nuggets years ago & i to find more gold now hunting rings than i ever did back then.

Looks like a good day out.
Haven't been doin any hunting for the last month and some, so it's good to some-one getting the good stuff.
Hey, Lou, last time I went prospecting my boy put a pick through his foot and that was just after the fist little nugget
came to light.
Anyway good hunting and good luck.

Crikey mate, I'm cringeing at the thought. That must have hurt like hell!
Poor bugger, hope his foot come good ok.
And what a great way to stuff up a perfectly good prospecting trip.

Cheers.

Lou.

Yeah Lou, he was very lucky indeed.
We patched up his foot and he said it was OK to walk on.
So I got him to rest up for a while. He then said this is boring so I said that there is a pick over there, you can play with that.
The return look was just a blank stare. It was a bit of a drive to get him back to Brissy for the Doc to look him, but all is well.
Lazyaussie, that brass dohickey thingy looks like an old colonial type door latch, my house is 102yrs old and we have similar
door latches in our house.
HH aushunter:ausflag::minelab:
PS just checked and it is 100% a part of the exact door lock mechanism we have on all of our rooms.
You have an untouched area there, so go and get hunting.
Cheers.

thanks for the ID on the lock part . i"m hoping to get out tomorrow or Sunday i"ll let you all know how i go :detecting::ausflag:.
