Ha! My Very First Wireless System On My Garrett GTA Ultra Metal Detector.:throw:

It was back about 20 years and called the "OMEGA" Sound Sender. It ran on 2 x AA batteries and the system was mounted on the outside arm cuff of the detector. The receiver was a free Chatelaine am/FM radio. It was challenging setting a FM frequency on the "OMEGA" and trying to get the radio to lock on to the same frequency. It eventually worked....sort off. I often times lost my frequency, having to then try lock on to it again. There was a lag in audio, and the audio sounded tinny. I only used it twice, opting to just continue using the non-wireless headset.

My experience with wireless arrangements over the years has been a matter of necessity because of my severe hearing loss. My hearing loss is about 90 dB across the hearing range. Because of this, I must wear hearing aids under headphones to receive sounds properly. Without the hearing aids and just headphones I get only grunts. Feedback is also a problem from the hearing aids when using headphones over them. Also, this is a painful problem because most headphones don't have enough padding and the result is my ears are clamped between the headphones, hearing aids and my head. With some headphones I can stand this for only about 10 minutes and they have to come off. Therefore, I try to not use headphones and the next choice is wireless to my hearing aids. The aids that I have been using for the last several years have had exterior control devices that have a number of functions such as volume control, phone answering, Bluetooth and audio streaming. With my latest aids, Bluetooth is a joke because of the delay. Swinging the AT Pro at a normal speed the target sound is heard when the coil is about 3 feet passed the target. Where's the target? I am now using audio streaming and the response is much faster. I have two devices, one used as the transmitter and the other is the receiver which streams audio to the hearing aid control and then to the aids. This arrangement works much better but it still lacks in dependability and requires handling care. I am jumping up and down waiting to get the new Garrett Z-Lynk system to solve some of my detecting hearing problems.

Guess I need to ask the question here some are thinking. Is the Garrett Z-Lynk new Garett technology or known product with the Garrett name?

I would say it is new technology utilized by Garrett, as it is several times faster the Bluetooth technology, which is currently used by some wireless systems, which has been around for many years. The Garrett system also allows you you use your favorite headset, be it large bulky ones, light ones or ear buds.

I've looked and didn't find an answer to this question regarding the Z-Lynk wireless system

Is there and adapter or cable the will allow me to attach stock ATPro style headphone connector to the 1/4" input plug on the Z-Lynk receiver.

It think it would be nice If it were possible to use Amphibians or the stock Garrett ATPro land phones with the new Z-Lynk.
