Woke up this morning, checked the temp. Dang it! Minus 22 C. Minus 29 with the wind. I did what any smart person would do....I rolled over and went back to sleep. Got up at 11:00, and it warmed up to -16 C. To me that's a YES! I packed up my usual stuff, headed for a a couple of burgers/fries then to a snow hill visited by many. It had now warmed up to -11...... PERFECT! I had slipped in a couple of hot pacs into my camo cover beside the batteries and I had no problems. Due to a couple of mild days a few weeks back, some of the targets were encased in ice. Not a problem using my relic shovel.

Here's all the targets I dug today. A pretty decent ratio of good targets to bad targets. I have dome much worse with my VLF machines in the past. I love the audio of the Garrett ATX. The intensity, the smoothness and how quickly the target audio cuts out gives a lot of clues as to how big, what it might be and how deep it is. Add to this the iron audio check and you have the ability to leave some obvious metal targets behind.

Here are the coins and the ring I dug up today. Most of our clad is nickel plate over iron, So, a coin which has been in the elements for a while will begin to sound off using the iron audio on both the AT Series and ATX. It kind of sucks for me, however, that just forces me to dig more targets.

Here's that ring I dug up. Anitro it was! I saw gold, which ended up only looking like gold. Oh well.....a ring is a ring is a ring.

And all that fresh air from the rocky mountains makes it's way over Edmonton, giving everyone a good nights sleep!

Glad you got out and found some clad and a ring. I agree with you, I'm always happy to find a ring. I'm just a little happier when it's silver or gold. We've had some beautiful weather for dirt fishing, but sometimes I despair about getting to go when I have the dirt digger's fever. Then I consider all the members who are snowed in and count my blessings. It was in the mid=70's Monday & Tuesday and the high today is about 52. Tomorrow is the only day I may get to go this week and the high is supposed to be 49-50 degrees on land, but I don't know about the water temperature. I'm still looking for my first ring of 2014 and want to try out my scoop since I modified it at the same time. Saturday, I hope to go to the national money show in Atlanta and see some of the coins the homeowners found in their backyard that's estimated at 10 million dollars. What a find. When do you thaw out in Canada? About May, I guess. HH.

Good finds. Glad your able to get out.
Were stuck with the Polar Vortex.

I think you should be called indestructible, I get cold at 69 degrees.:surrender:
