Guys what's your favorite set-up on relics and coins?

Guys share your favorite set-ups I am new to the Quattro and figured you guys might could help me get past the learning curve faster! I love to relic hunt and also love to coin hunt. So if you guys could help me out I'd appreciate it.

For coins I mask out everything except 14-16 and 36-39. Realize that you will miss some depending on soil conditions, but this is what I use in trashy parks.
Cant help at all on relics.

Junior, I agree with KinTNs coin settings but I open up the tid to run from 39 down to 32, as that's where my IHs are found (32-34) in factory settings or custom coin, coin/jewelry modes.
As I'm mostly a relic hunter, and I prefer woods, fields, I don't discriminate out any numbers. If the site is clean,or relatively free of trash, I'll hunt in all-metal, if somewhat trashy, I switch to relic. I've gotten in the habit of digging all targets and becoming familiar with their tid and audio responses. I once found a steel WWll cent that read -2 (in all modes). In fact, relic is my preferred hunting mode overall, as silver coins will sound a tad sweeter in relic than in either coin, & coin/jewelry beacuse of the ferrous audio.

Wow kschae4, you are the first guy I have heard of that found a steel penny; what kind of condition was it in? I would have expected it to be a mass of unidentifiable rust!

Also agree with using the relic/all metal mode. I hate those icons and prefer the tones of ferrous.

So do you guys run yours set on high trash or low trash? And as far as sensitivity auto or manual? Thanks

Trash depends on where you are running; about the only place I run low trash is at the beach. I wonder if that says something about me......
Also I use a SEF 6x8 in hi trash areas. I normally run sensitivity in auto unless I have a reason to hunt otherwise.

That's a pretty cool find I just wonder if it was in the ground very long to not be rusted that bad? At school yards I have found Chinese coins, Mexico coins, along with American coins like Susan B. dollars and even a walking liberty half once I figure they bring them for show and tell and end up losing them on the play ground.

Amazingly good shape for that steel wheatie! I suspect 88junior may be correct unless it was found in the desert or something.

btw, I found a Cuban 25cent coin earlier this month on a local (TN) soccer field. Thats my oddest place coin; T mean, I thought we are still embargoing them and only pure blodded commies go there these days.....

88junior, I thought maybe I would give you a few target i.d. numbers for relics to let you know where they ring up on my machine, I think yours should be close. Civil war minnes .58 caliber = 33 thru 35 .69 caliber bullets 35- 37 smaller bullets such as .32 and up start at about 15 and go up to 30 on the i.d. buttons as small as cuff buttons start at i.d. 9-12 and larger buttons start at 11-14. Almost all the hunting I do is relic hunting, I have a few vids on youtube that you can link to thru this site. My Safari is always set with all iron blacked out, with that said I still get signals that are iron relics,,,very rusty objects will ring up all over the screen till you get them out of the ground. I hunt with sensitivity on at least 16 or more depending on how much trash is around. Threshold set at 12 and always hunt in high trash mode regardless of where I am because it just picks up targets faster it seems. Hope this helps Happy Diggin
