I was Trying to get a Maps forum started,i did ask before i posted it,Guvner said it was fine.
He will be watching the replies,to see how many and who is interested.

I am glad to help everyone,if i can find a map for them,or a link, and they end up finding something.
Very good,i like helping people,as i know a lot of you do.
Everyone can use help, and i think a maps forum would be great.
It all depends on you guys, the number of posts, and the replies.

I am not in wih findmall,i am an everyday joe just like a lot of you.
Thanks for looking,

LabradorBob

Any thing that will help us narrow down those hunting sites would help.
I'm for it !!

This forum is all about sharing information and knowledge which is great, but...

No dirt fisher with any common sense is going to post hard to come by maps in his area that he (or she) went through the effort to obtain for every Tom, Dick and Lurker to poach.

On the other hand, the site would probably become a clearinghouse for many maps readily available elsewhere and having them available easily in one place wouldn't be a bad idea.

I think what LabradorBob had in mind are sources not only for old maps that most of us could use, but for educational "how to" courses as well. Tonight he sent me instructions on how to overlay old maps on Google Earth in a language I could understand, (with pictures). I really like the picture part......:clapping:. I don't think he is asking for anyone's map of their favorite place to hunt. He can count me in............

Good point, Larry. The how-to's would be a real plus for the forum as well.

Sounds like Labrador Bob would be a good choice for moderator, if he's so inclined.

Would love to have instructions on how to overlay old maps on Google Earth in a language I could understand too. Believe this would be a good addition. As an example, the counties around me have on-line systems that overlay plat details on Google and other map systems so that you can see the boundries of the plat you have obtained permission to hunt on. They also provide information as to the owners of the land so you can contact them for permission. This type of info would be valuable for newbies without giving away your favorite hunting sites.

The Maps Forum is now up in the class rooms forum.
Thanks for all the support.

In my tiny little world here in Wyoming, that would be a HUGE help. Many of the historic maps are in the state archives, Trying to get them out and usable is often an issue saved for the GEEK Squad...Then also many of the older maps of the exploration of the west are in DC.
Being Confuzer illiterate, never has been to my advantage :rage::rage::rant:
