Just tweeking the sensitivity and ground probably won't affect the warranty, as long as you don't break something inside or go soldering.

If you have the same version circuit card (4.1), the pots are in the position in the picture. There are different versions of the circuit card in production. If it is a different version, the pots may not be the same.
A warning: You can easily miss-align things if you don't have an understanding of what you are doing and make the detector pretty non-functional. So if you don't have an understanding, please leave it alone.
The sensitivity can be increased until it starts to chatter. Some of these seem to have more range than others. If you have it set to where it chatters and your hunt conditions change, it can be unstable until the sensitivity is turned down a little. So be careful.
Before doing anything with the ground balance, search on the findmall Tesoro forum for posts by Monte about power ground balancing. Understand that process before trying to adjust the ground balance or you could be way off.

Last fall my computer went south just got it fixed so its been awile , I just could not du whithout my compadre so I got another and this time i voided my warenty by going into it and turning up the sensitivity to maxand adjusting the ground to handle more mineralized soil this had a noticible afect on its depth now it is at least 1.5" deeper for istance i now have no problem air testing a dime quarter at 6" and in my ground which is mineralized i get a dime at 4.5" deep and a nickle at 5" no problem and quarter and if you slow the sweep speed down you can get coins at 6" in ground but you must slow the sweep speed its still not as deep as my musky which can easaly peg a dime at 9" but it does some thing the musky cant so it staying in my arsinal great detector ummm hummm
