Guess What TRIME it is!!!!!!

UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE!!! Another Bucketlister. My list is getting shorter awfully fast!!

I knew what it was the second I saw it. I believe it is an 1853. It is pretty toasted, and from '51-'53 to silver content was only 75%. So that's my guess! Going to have to rename my #1 field "Field of Dreams"!! It has been unbelievable! I don't have field pics because my phone was messing up and wouldn't focus.

Pretty sure today will be the last field hunting day until spring. As the day progressed the ground got harder and harder to dig. Dusting of snow on the car when I got out!

Congrats on some very nice finds.

Congratulations JNimons! You are on a roll and your 3 center may not be your best find for the day. That large buckle looked familiar to me so I checked my Plates and Buckles book of the American Military. It looks like a Confederate Waist Belt Buckle with a tongue. If it's made of copper, with a weight of "about 3 ounces" and dimensions of about 2.60 x 3.40 inches, you may have made a significant find. The photo in my book has no tongue. Best of luck and...

Happy Hunting!

Nice silver 3 cent! I've been lucky enough to dig two of them, they are hard to find! Surprised at the amount of corrosion though.

Thank you....the condition of the coin surprised me too. There has been some comments on other forums and facebook that it might counterfeit. After a few days in lemon juice and working it with a toothpick, there is nice shiny underneath. Under high magnification it look as if possibly it were in a fire, or something melted on it. Will post another set of pictures when I get it cleaned up more

Been some discussion as to weather this trime is real or counterfeit . I believe after about 15 hours of working on the coin, that it is indeed silver and that it has been in a fire. I got a positive date, it is 1859, not 53 like I first thought. What do you all think? Can only read the date under high magnification. It was the best picture I could get using a pair of inverted high end 10x50 binoculars and my cell phone.

Certainly see your point... does look like silver now and does look like was in a fire or some hostile environment...
