GTP1350 vs Ace 350?

I have a coworker that wants to get into metal detecting, mainly old farm yards, fields etc for relics, coins and so on. She doesn't have any experience. I was telling her how much I like my GTP1350 but I also think the Ace 350 might be worth a look for her. I may have considered it myself if it were an option when I was in the market.

How does the Ace compare to the 1350? Form what I am reading it looks like the Ace is a good starter that can also keep someone that gets serious happy enough. She would like the ability to I'd targets before digging and notching out certain hits if needed.

I'm just looking for opinions, please let me know what your thoughts are. I also told her about how much a pin pointer helps. I don't think I would ever not have one again.

Thanks!

Ya know I always recommended the Ace 250. The Ace 150 is about the same machine ,but easier to learn. I'd get the 150. The money she saves can go to equipment. A good Garrett digger, pick, get her a leather carpenters apron, & a scrip to a monthly Treasure Mag. Than it's up to her.

They don't madufacture the GTP 1350.....so I presume it is used. The GTP will size a target, the ACE 350 will not. The GTP 1350 is the better of the two.

Of the 2, the GTP 1350 definitely. But they do not manufacture it anymore. Been gone for a yr or 2 I believe.

Thanks for the replys. I believe she is going with the 350. I don't expect her to be a hardcore hobbiest, just a casual weekend hunter so this should serve her well.

Thanks again,
Len

my son just bought a new 1350 from kellyco a couple of weeks ago

I have no experience with the 1350 but I am really enjoying my Ace 350. I understand the 250 is also a very good entry level MD...but again...no experience with it. If she picks up the 250 she can easily pick up a pro pointer...if she has a couple hundred extra $$ I would suggest the 350 and a pro pointer. My brother bought me a pro pointer for my birthday and it is worth its weight in gold...sure makes the digging more fun.

I'd go with the Ace 350 for her... It runs on 8.25khz. plenty ground punching power to go deep for relics and coins.
The display is easy to read and has the DD coil instead of the stock concentric. Plus mine is really lightweight for
swinging all afternoon. Let us know which you decide, keep us posted.

.....The GTP 1350 was recently phased out by Garrett....still a lot of them in stock by the local dealers who are still selling them at the "New" Price.....used if in good shape and the price is a couple of hundred dollars off the new price...then I would go for it....
