gti2500 vs infinium LS

HI all which detector would be best in mineralised ereas between the gti2500 vs infinium LS ?please help me out here for I am deciding between the two to buy for treasure hunting.Or is there another better detector that I dont know of than these two I have asked about?...thanks....Steve

Tough question....both machines operate entirely differently. If you are fairly new to metal detecting, get the GTI 2500. It has a deep true all metal mode that will give you a depth and conductivity reading. It also has features in discriminate mode to give you the true size, depth and conductivity of an object. You can also notch out undesirable targets with this machine also. It uses a graphic meter to show this information

The Infinium will get more depth, especially in mineralized areas. it was originally designed to work in highly mineralized areas. The Infinium needs to be tunes and ground balanced. You have to base your decisions to dig/not to dig based solely on audio signals. The learning curve of the Infinium is quite steep. There are no visual indicators like the GTI 2500 to ID a lot of your targets. of course, on the other hand, if you are relic hunting, you will dig everything anyways. however, PI's love iron, and you will be very busy. The Infinium can also go under water, and water-proof headsets are an option. And the Infinium does not have a graphic meter.

I suggest you keep doing some research and don't hesitate to ask more questions on this forum. :)

Either with the DD coil would be fine. As of a few months ago all 2500's have been equipped with a new chip to make them function perfectly in highly mineralized soil, as requested by the folks in Australia.

Hi guys thanks for the info.I will wait for more info on what detector is best for my needs before I but one,I have been metal detecting for years but want something up to date that will be more effective in mineralised ereas...thanks...Steve

Hi guys another question, will the infinium pick up smaller items such as jewlery and coins and small nuggets of gold at deeper depth than the vlf.thanks much ...Steve

Steve,

Without having a GTI2500 I can only speculate. The Infinium is a extremely powerful PI machine that it would have the edge in this area. My last water hunt I took home three small stud earing's. It would have a big edge in the nugget area.

I am considering trading out my Quattro for a GTI2500. With the modifications that Uncle Willy spoke about I would hope this unit would do well on the beach.

Yeah the Infinium ain't exactly a beginner's detector and is basically a specialized detector for specialized hunting and a long way from a generalized detector for everyday hunting.

Bill

Yeah I'm going to have that mod installed on my 2500 so I can personally check it out and report on it. It should turn the 2500 into a real bear in nasty ground. Since our soil here in Oregon is all volcanic we have a running start to begin with.

Also the Infinium mountecd with the DD coil has a decided edge in mineralized ground, black sand, salt sand, etc. And on top of that you can take it down 200 feet in the water and hunt with the fishys. :)

Bill

The 2500 with the new chip would probably be your best bet for generalized hunting because it is so versatile.

Bill

I wont be doing any underwater detecting but if its worthiwild in mineralised ereas and is better over others detectors in mineralised ereas then I will get this detector perhaps...thanks...Steve

So would this Ace 250 you speek of be better for everyday hunting in mineralised ground, than the infinium?...thanks for all the help...Steve

For generalized hunting the 2500 would probably be your best bet as you can hunt for just about everything with it.

Bill

Hi there Bill thanks for the help.I will be thinking to get the GTI2500 then in the springtime here.Enless I here of something that is better for what im looking for in a detector. And if anyone els has any info to help me decide please feel free to reply..thanks..Steve

You won't find much any better than the 2500 for what you want. It's extremely versatile and can be mounted with the Treasure Hound for deep treasures.

Bill

Hi Bill ok well I am going to get this detector then in a month..Thanks for the help. For I was going to get the infinium but now I am going to get the 2500..thanks..Steve
