GTI in wet sand?

skimdaddy

New member
Hey Folks,
Has anyone had any luck using the GTI 1500 on the beach with wet sand and mineralization? I want to upgrade from the Ace 350 and have a chance to buy one used, but I'm hoping 4 frequencies will be able to ground balance the beaches here in southern New Jersey. Please let me know your opinions as I'd like to make a decision this afternoon. Also, how is this machine in general?

Humbly yours,
Skimdaddy

Not so much of a beach machine. The 4 freqs. are just so you can change a little to be able to not crosstalk with other machines or help a little with the effects of EMI. It will do just fine in the dry sand, but as with most any VLF machine, hard to handle in the salt. But if you can get it at a good price, a deadly coinshooter.

Thanks big Cat,
Thats good advice. It really is for my Dad who will be dirt-fishing as well as sand hunting so a coinshooter might compliment my machine. Guy is local to me and has had it just a few years and he's asking $370 so I hope that is a good price. What do ya think?

It depends. If it has the old style white coil ,that would tell you it's more that just a few years old and I would offer much less cuz you're gonna want that newer black coil. If it has the newer black coil, it's a more recent machine. I try to buy used at 1/2 of new price. $300 for it if it has the black coil is what i would offer and might creep up to $325. Maybe $275 for the white coiled machine. But then again, I love to haggle!!

Gtp 1350 awesome coin shooter!!! hunted the beach twice so far, with salt elimination on not much trouble at all...no jewelry but a good bit of coins!!!
