GTI 2500

I have a question I am a whites user but am now using a gti 2500 and was wondering if anyone has run across this my readings do not match what i find like a quarter size is right but on the scale does not show a quarter is there something wrong with this machine I purchased it used.

Thanks djbutch

The sizing, depth reading and ID is only a probability based on a coin lying perfectly horizontal in good soil. Add a few degrees from the 180, some mineralization, perhaps some nearby metal junk, and the readings will be influenced. This happens to ALL brands, makes and models. The machine is probably not broken or out of tune.... Your job is to be aware of this, and dig the iffy signals. Use your ears too. Good targets like coins and rings give a nice solid sound. If in doubt, dig it. It costs you nothing.

Centering the target correctly on a 2500 when pinpointing is absolutely critical for accurate readings and takes some practice. A lot of quarters will read as cents until you pinpoint and jockey the coil around slightly, then the reading will change. You just can't get sloppy with a 2500 like you can with other detectors. I doubt there is anything wrong with your tector. GTI's are a breed all their own and don't operate like the run of the mill detector. Just practice a little and I think your problem will be solved. Good luck.
