Hi all,
I've had my GTI 2500 for several years now and was just wondering if/how anyone on here sets up their machines? I just turn the 2500 on and hit discriminate coins and go BUT i was wondering if I'm missing the boat by not using the "custom" setting or perhaps I could benefit from some surface elim. adjustments or some other "tweaks" I've found a fist full of silver and copper with the machine,my best site being my own yard! It's in an old mining location and was loaded with coins. My oldest being a 1905 Indian head i just found last week at around 4-5 inches. Anyway if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

The custom coins program uses to much discrimation, You are hunting in a old site, (you will miss a good coin, 3 cent piece, thin spanish silver etc.) using it . I always hunted with zero discrimination & turned my sensitivity up as high as I could & stay stable, maybe a false signal every 3rd swing. NEVER EVER use the surface elimation. In my air test it didn't do well, try it yourself. Always keep in mind that coins don't always come in where they are supposed to,
I have dug a lot of mercs that came in 1 notch under a penny. After you pound it with your standard coil, hit it with your small coil, then after that grid it off
& hit it in all metal, nothing can hide from it.Good luck.

I use the jewelry mode most of the time and run it as hot as I can without any falsing.Sometimes I also use the zero mode with bylevel tones so I can hear any Iron in the area.Found many coins next to iron that way.
