Got off work today and went on a mission to get a ring. I dug most of the soft sounding targets around the nickel/pull tab range, as shown above. Well, it paid off. The GTI 2500 gave a nice soft sound, a "B" sized target and out popped a nice gold plated AVON ring.

Nice one! Not too much trash in the picture. Pretty good ratio of jewelry to trash. I dug what looked like a home made braided ring last week. Yours is what I was looking for! Take care.

Nice little ring you lucky dorg. I can't seem to score a ring for squat. Think the tector Gods are peed at me. :)

Great finds for the day John.
You indicated that you were listening for the soft sounds. Is that something that the GTI's can do that the Ace's can't do? just curious, as the lack of subtleness of sound is the Ace's biggest down side.
Mick Evans.

That's a big surprise to me, as my machine gives off the same blunt sound regardless of what passes under the coil. Good and bad targets sound exactly the same. Would this mean that my Ace is actually defective?
thanks.
Mick Evans.

Thanks John.
I tried it both in discriminate and pinpoint mode. I found no difference.
I guess this is an area that Garrett can look at when they update the Ace's. If the audio system could represent the signal that the detector picks up rather than give the same generic sound to all responses, then that would make a HUGE improvement.
Mick Evans.

I'd like for them to incorpoprate silent search to eliminate all the banging in your ear from junk. That's what I always liked about Tesoros.

Bill

Yeah. I'm a bit the same way with the X-Terra.When you go over junk, the signal is very short and choppy eta. Makes hunting a whole lot easier.Larger targets like pull tabs still sound good, but it's amazing how many signals are just small junk.
Mick Evans.
