GTI-2500 users - settings for deep silver help requested :help:

If you have any suggestions for GTI-2500 settings to find silver deep, please share them.

I have been hunting a Civil War site for over two years with a couple of close friends. We have found all kinds of relics and even some coins, but not many. Between us we have found a dozen or so Indians, two Flying Eagles and, two months ago, our first silver. One friend found a 3 cent coin at 4" and then I found a Bust 1/2 dime at almost 6". I am convinced there is more silver, but it is deep, at least 5" and deeper. We are not in a position to scrape the top half a foot of ground off the site, so I am looking for any help squeezing depth out of my Garrett that I can. The detector is finding bullets, buttons and such down to nine inches, but it is the silver that I am hoping to track down. I have a new black 9 1/2 inch coil and a 12 1/2 inch Pro coil. I try to detect in all metal mode whenever I can for that added depth and relic mode when I need to deal with trash. The site has light to moderate iron trash in the ground and a few spots with lots of surface trash, but otherwise the site is relatively trash free.

There are some very experienced GTI-2500 users on this forum, I hope you will share your thoughts with me here. Thank you in advance.................:garrett:

That's easy.....hunt in true all metal, and you might want to manually ground balance (see manual). You can either dig all targets, or just look to see where the cursor defines the target probability. Some DEEP targets may read as iron but end up being higher conductivity targets. This happens on all detectors. And finally, run the program (true all metal) in as high sensitivity as possible.

Want even more depth? Switch to the 12 1/2 inch imaging coil. Good luck!

I might add to that to scan slow as the response and recovery on the 2500 ain't the swiftest in the world. Manually balanced the 2500 will get down there as deep as anything on the market. Remember, on the 2500 you have 256 degrees of adjustment in all metal so you can really fine tune it.

Ive dug silver dimes in pretty hard ground at 8 inches. The signal was weak at first and only registered with side to side sweeping and not to and fro. Once I dug about 4 inches the signal got better. Sometimes it got worse and I knew to quit digging. I also dug a silver dime at 4 inches w/ the 12.5 inch coil that the 9.5 missed.
