GTI 2500 Tick Tick

I sure had a rough day at the park. Took my GTI 2500 out to get the treasure of my life and it TICKED as I went over the target. Blue me away. I could not get it to stop. Evan if I held the treasure seek button, as I went over the target all I got was a series of clicks. Well any way I bagged the detector up and took it and me home, in utter hopelessness. I called Garrett and found out it would only cost 45.00 and was relieved, so I went in to measure it all up to box it up and just tried it out and the lovely thing worked correctly. SO I have come to appreciate it's ability to fix itself. I knew it was wonderful. Tick Tick Petermus

maybe the target you passed the coil over was a watch hence the the tick tick. just kidding.
The bad part about having to send a detector in for repairs is the shipping costs.
It may never do that again. I would try holding the start button down for 5 seconds to do a factory reset. It may never do the tick tick thingy again after a reset.

Probably EMI. Next time switch frequencies and if this does not work lower the sensitivity. If still not resolved move to a different location. I find when the police park behind our house and turn their radar on I might as well forget using my GTI 2500 in the yard. Changing frequencies will change to a different rhythmic Tik Tik Tik either faster or slower. Also if my neighbor plays video games with their wireless controllers I have the same issue. I noticed as the sun is setting the EMI gets worse for a time and then gets better. I have a test coin in the front yard that I cannot detect even with subtle EMI present. The next day it rings in clear as a belltone.

The above has occured with every detector I have owned which includes Minelabs, Fishers, and Garrets. Even other high end ones like the Explorer SE, and Fisher F75.

Thanks Digger42 and lloyd0161 for the comments and suggestions. It has been so windy here on the coast that going out would require a pocket full of rocks. So I do hope all is still well. Try tomorrow if possible. :geek:
