GTI 2500 PROS & CONS ????

St Bernard

New member
I do not see much mention of the GTI 2500 any where. For those who have one or had one what is the PRO & CONS of this detector?? Feedback appreciated. Thank you Bill

Pros: Hunts deep, sizing and depth helps determine if you want to dig, adapts to 2-box, and did I mention sizing...

Cons: Heavy.

It's still my go-to machine.

John

I just wanted to add that it can be used with the 2 box attachment which will find relics in feet, not inches. It also has Surface Elimination: adjustable search aid ignores shallow, undesired items. So, you can search for deep targets if desirable.

Great machine!
Cons: Heavy
Pros: too many to mention though the adjustable volume is nice and the "All Metal Mode" is extremely sensitive. Great for finding tiny chains or anything tiny. I've found coins in this mode at 12"

Hey Gabby.....good to hear from you buddy. Hope all is well. :)

And speaking of chains, all my Garretts have always done well on chains.....

I'm doing ok. Wintering where its warm. haven't been on here since the summer, but with spring in the not too distant future, starting to think about detecting again.

John some say it ls heavy but I can go half day or more. I am 77 with three bypass 's

The target "Imaging and Sizing" is worth its weight in gold. Why, oh Why, hasn't Garrett brought that out in a newer detector?

With my other detectors, I have dug can lids (trash) at 7 inches that showed as a high VDI (coin) at 4 inches.

With those other detectors, dig a plug and still no target on the pinpointer. But still reluctant to give up. so dig a little bit more, and a little bit more, and finally pocket the trash.

The GTI2500 knows the difference between "large and deep" and "small and shallow".

Some folks have said that it isn't very accurate, but I gotta disagree -- it's accurate for all three factors: target ID, target depth, and target size. And it's sensitive.

... I've had previously: Compass Judge, Fisher CZ-7a Pro, Fisher CZ-70, Garrett AT3 Garrett GTP1350, and Teknetics Gamma 6000.

... Now have just two: Teknetics Omega 8000 (version 6), and the GTI2500.

The GTI is my "Go To" machine for serious detecting. The imaging makes the difference.

When are we going to get an AT Max with imaging?

Cheers,

Joe

I can go for a day's hunt too. If you can't handle the weight of any detector, do some strengthening exercises. Most of us who detect often have already built up some good endurance.

Agreed! Once you learn how to use the imaging properly (got to be dead center) over a target, it is a real blessing. Hopefully they will again use it again in some other releases. And that true all metal mode is a killer in depth, in today's standards.

I realize this detector is old technology but should a person move on to something newer technology regardless of what brand? Thanks

If I was new to detecting, I would probably look for a newer machine like the AT Series. If I wanted to search for deep buried jars of coins, the 2 box system would be a consideration. The GTI 2500 is the only detector which will utilize that system.

Me bud in Sydney N.S. uses it . Donny brought it the first year it came out and has never had to send it for servicing! That is always a good indication!

Its heavy and boxy to swing....All metal mode that ID's is as deep as any....Excellent notching system...

Hello ive owned several Gti's and as far as the 2500 ad fas as CON'S -Heavy and loved deep iron,Slow recovery speed, PRO'S- deepest all metal i have ever seen with the 12 inch imaging coil! Great on coins. I would buy another.

John,
Those are some really nice chain's. What coil are you using for chain's ?
I have the old CX 3. I believe it runs much like the 2500 except for imageing. Though it dus have the VCO option in all metal, which I love.
Would you know which coil would work best on chain's for it ?
Terry
