GTI 2500 pinpoint

Hi All,
When ever I pinpoint a target with my 2500 I just got it gives good target Id but when the target is over 6 inches the depth bar does not come across the screen and I get a cone on the imaging scale. Any Ideas why ?

The manual says this can happen from the target being to small or to deep. Also says if the the target is off center from the coil it can happen.

One thing - centering the target accurately is critical with these machines. As you are centering your target watch the signal strength indicator at the top of the display - when the cursors line up all the way across. The target will then be under the center hole in the coil.

Hey Guys,
Had the 2500 out last weekend at the ball field and found 13 coins. Pinpoint worked just fine. It just took a little while to shake the rust off from that other detector I was using.

Bill I dont know bout anyone else but I love having the hole in the center of my 2500 coil. It gives me something on the ground to focus on after i move the coil to dig....my 500 was alittle more tricky as i had to pinpoint then hold the trowel over the X when I moved the coil away. If I didnt hold over the X and just try to keep my eyes fixed, they followed the X everytime and everytime I would be off the target. But even with that I still love my Garretts!!!

Yeah that hole is a handy gadget. Like a peep hole to the target. If you have a screwdriver with a handle smaller than that hole you can just stick it through the hole into the ground, pull your coil up over it, and your target is marked.

Yeah using a Garrett after using another brand makes things tricky at first. One of the biggest and most complaints I had when running the Garrett Classroom was from guys who had switched from another machine to a Garrett and were trying to operate the Garrett like they did their former machine. One guy was ready to wrap his 1500 around a tree until I set him straight, then he was a real happy camper.
I used to tell them a Garrett ain't like any other machine, it has a mind and personality of its own.

Terry, I've been using the 2500 for 3 years now, and have noticed that with pennies and sometimes dimes you either will not get an accurate depth reading or you have to hold the pinpoint button down a little longer before the depth will appear. Regardless, always dig a coin notched target, as it almost always is a coin, but not laying flat.

One other point about it ringing an overload...I noticed in an air test last night that a Size 6 Gold ring at 8 inches rang up an overload?
