GTI 2500 Operational Question

When I bought my 2500 I recall that there was a post (I looked and looked and couldn't find it again) where some users posted their personal preferences for various settings. To be honest with you, it sounded like Greek to me because none of the settings corresponded to anything that could be changed on either of my other 2 detectors. If you have settings that work well for you please post them.

As I begin my second year with the 2500 I am looking to improve my knowledge about the 2500 and further hone my skills. As always, I appreciate any and all help.

Chris

Hello,
If it was "personal preferences" you might wanna try to find your own preference.
Don't know what it was...

Somebody made a post, and believe me I've looked for it, listing settings that he claimed would provide the absolute best results in discriminate mode with the GTI 2500. When I read the post all those many months ago I did not have the experience to try his advice. I was hoping maybe somebody would recall making the post and respond. I know the settings I use and wanted to try somebody elses favorite setup.

I reviewed every thread I posted to around the time I got my 2500 and that is the advice you gave me back then. I try all kinds of changes to sensitivity when I'm hunting. I usually run between 8 and 10 but sometimes as low as 4.

In searching the archives I was almost sure the post I seek was made by Terry in PA, John in Edmonton, Bear? (Georgia), or you.

Who was the poster who modified his Ace 250 into a water machine? Khouse!!!!! It was right about that time, I think. I lurked here for 2 or 3 months before I joined and posted too. Arghhhh.

Hello again Chris,
When I had the 2500 I usually had sensitivity about 7.5 to 9 depending on site conditions.
Threshold set to a slight hum.
Jewelry was my favorite setting if there was not to much trash around.
Take some "common" targets and play with the pitch and test how the targets responds; you might use it to better ID some targets like Iron nails it did work for me.(never did experiment to much on this but could be worth a try?)

A trick I did learn was when a target got found/located lower your coil as close as possible and run the coil over the target as close as you can to the target try not to get the coil more then 2 to 4 inches off the target.
Run the coil "fast", low and close to the target.
Some targets responds faster then others; coins, pull tabs and bottle caps are what I know of that you can ID them this way and with the help of the display.

Donno if it works over there at least in Sweden it works. If you don't understand I'll try to explain it in another way.

Regards,
Eu:buds:
