GTI 2500 in wet sand and shallow surf

I took my GTI 2500 to the beach today and tested out some new ideas I have found from reading these forums and watching various videos. I haven't had much luck in the wet sand with my machine until today. I set my autotrack to fast, Salt Elimination on, my sensitivity to 6 then 7 after a while, and jewelry mode, and I gotta say I didn't have any false signals even when a small wave would wash over my coil, very exciting! The only thing I found in the very short time I was out was a clad quarter, but it was 6-7 inches down :yikes: So at least I know it was working. My TH just purred along without much change at all until I hit the coin, then nice solid bell tone and target ID said quarter! I know everyone says the GTI 2500 is not a good wet sand machine, but it seems my horizons just broadened a little. At least until I can buy my Infinium in a couple of weeks!

Sounds like you're doin' great! You might want to place a clear shower cap over the control box and tape it up really good where the control box meets the stem and coil cord(in case of accidental splash or drop in water). That GTI 2500 is an amazing machine, but when you get that Infinium, it's gonna rule at the beach!:garrett::detecting: I hope that you have a big, long handled scoop! You're gonna need it!
Best of luck to ya!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

Thanks for the tip metalhead! That's good advice. I probably won't use my 2500 in the surf much and especially after I get the Infinium, but its good to know I can if I want to. And no I don't have the scoop yet, I have been looking into them but can't decide which one to get. I would appreciate any suggestions, I plan on detecting up to chest deep water, and I already have a hand scoop for scuba diving. I see a lot of people using the long handled scoops on the beach in videos, I gotta say it looks good to me not having to bend over hundreds of times per day! :detecting:
