GTI 2500 in relic mode

Who here can compare the 2500 to either the Whites DFX or MXT in relic mode? My experience has been an advantage to the MXT, with the DFX and 2500 dragging up the rear-not necessarily in that order. I suspect the 2500 can whup the DFX, but what is YOUR experience with personal comparisions of your very own-not what Bubba told you? Thanks. I'm interested in hearing from you. R

Well I owned both detectors. The DFX and the 2500. I can say the DFX in the preset programs really lacks any depth. So I bought a book on making it hot. I can say I've found nothing deeper with it then using any other detector. The thing that made me look into the 2500 was not only the depth of the unit but also the programing is way easier then the DFX. And the depth in the presets is very good. If you use the true all metal mode on the 2500 there is no doubt it will go deeper the most detectors. Also something that is a plus is the detector adjust to your sweep speed so you can sweep the detector to your liking with out losing any depth. The DFX you need to watch your sweep speed. The DFX is a well built detector as is the 2500. I run my 2500 in the relic mode most of the time and do very well with it. Both do a good job but for me the 2500 is all that I need and the all metal mode has all the depth anyone could want when relic hunting and you can hover the coil over one spot and get a size of the target also. Hope this helped.

I like the 2500 true depth and imaging features, but wish Garrett made a 5 or 6" imaging coil for sharpshooting with it. It's really heavy, too. But none of the whites' warn you when you're over a liftab or an aluminum can; you just have to guess. Thanks, Larry. Anyone else have a contribution to this thread?

The reason they don't make a small imaging coil is the fact that it's difficult to cram one transmitter and two receiver coils into a small coil.
