Well thanks for all your help with my "coil best suited for prospecting" question but i am still not sure. Talked to someone at kellyco and he thought maybe the 5" excelerator coil as it is a DD. Garrett tech. was not sure about the excelerator but thought the 5x10 scorcher would be well suited for the highly minerilized ground. Has anyone tried the 5" excelerator or heard of anyone who has used in any situation. Thanks for all your help. Rob

GTI 2500 coil advice appreciated but now confused:shrug:

The 5 x 10 would probably be the better choice. You would get greater depth, yet still have the "DD" characteristics of punching deeper and running more stable in higher mineralized soil. Another thing you should know is that 5" Excelerator coil for Garrett GTI-2500 and GTI-1500 has depth and imaging disabled. The Garrett 5 x 10 "DD" coil will not image for you, but will still give you a depth reading.

Stick with the factory 5x10 as it is a DD and better suited and tuned to the 2500.

The 5" Detech is a tiny sucker, I have it for my DFX. For small targets (items) it is good though when nugget hunting you might want a bigger coil to cover more ground.. If you are not at the river looking for gold, there a small coil can help you to get in between cracks, crevices etc.
