GTI 2500 ALL METAL SEARCHING

I have been using a GTI 2500 for about three years and, rarely, hunt in all metal mode due to it's instability. I used to use a Garrett ADS Deepseeker that had auto mode that worked great when in all metal/vlf mode. Are there any tips on how to get better stability in the all metal mode with the 2500??? I use the 12.5" spider coil, a lot. I do a lot of farm field hunting in old fairgrounds, picnic grounds, etc.
