GTI 2500 air tests -Interesting results

This is a follow-up to the post I made back in December found here:

http://www.findmall.com/read.php?17,635634

My 2500 arrived today, so I replicated my test with the new machine. Here are some photos of the results.

With the smaller imaging coil, in all metal, the results were almost identical to the Tejon. However, with minimal disc turned on (zero disc) the depth was better than my Tejon with minimal disc.

With the large coil, the depth was outstanding in all metal. I couldn't even put the pop can on the box, that's how deep it was. The ring and the coins all read at impressive depths. I didn't bother testing zero disc with the large coil as I would expect to only use it in all metal anyway. After all, why slug around the extra weight unless you're out for maximum depth, right?

Overall, I was very impressed with the presentation right out of the box. The case is well padded, and the detector arrived flawless. It assembled in minutes, but I did notice some wobble in the lower shaft. That would bug the heck out of me so I put a couple of 1/4" wide strips of electrical tape on the black shaft. That worked perfectly.

The GTI is heavy compared to the Tejon, but feels well balanced with the smaller coil. I haven't tried it with the large coil yet. It still feels a lot lighter than the Sov GT I had. It also seems very durable compared to the Sov, and seems equal in build quality to the Tesoro (which says a lot).

I went thru the menus based only off of the video that John posted the other day. Seems very straight forward, and should be easy to use in the field.

Now I just need the weather to cooperate and I can really put it to the test.

Hey Dan...good results. Yeh that 12.5 coil is deep deep in all metal. I use it in dry lakes and get deep stuff. Deep pulltabs too. It is very well built for sure. To make the detector lighter feeling with the 12.5 coil I usually set it up a notch or 2 higher on shaft to make it shorter, but will seem lighter. HH Good post! Alan (Ga)
