Where did everybody start out when they used their GTI 2500 for the 1st time? Coins, jewelry or relic?

Thanks for the help & God Bless <><,

Since I field tested it when it first came out I started in coins mode for a time then experimented with the other modes. I would avoid all metal for awhile until you thoroughly familiarize yourself with the machine. There is a bit of a learning curve with the 2500.

Start out in the Coins mode at first. You'll want to swing slow and don't scrub that coil unless you want a lot of false signals. Be sure to back that Sens. down as it will probably false at the end of your swings at the factory setting. Imaging and sometimes ID gets unreliable past 6" so dig everything that is repeatable at 6+". Get ready to have a "Popeye Arm"!! Enjoy!!

Hi Dan. I started in coins mode too. But you need lots of practice to learn how it pinpoints, sizes, beeps etc. If this is your first detector, I suggest you use it in a playground area in the sand or bark chips where you don't have to dig grass plugs. Also, junior high schools tend to be loaded with lots of coins, especially pennies. I suggest you grab a screwdriver and us it to both probe and pluck those coins out of the ground. It might be wise to dig all signals, so you know what some of the junk sounds like. There is a learning curve to the GTI 2500. Take your time, the good finds will come soon enough!

Good luck with your new GTI 2500 Dan :thumbs
