i got a new 1500 a few weeks ago, and i have used it 4-5 times. i just bought a used AT PRO from richard at ''backwoods detectors,'' that i believe used to belong member ''del'' on this forum. richard was first class to deal with, and del knows how to take care of his equiptment, as for all practical purposes it is spanking new. i went to a real trashy water park close to home, this morning. the AT PRO had me digging rusty bottle caps, ringing up as ''92-93'' and reading as a quarter. the GTI does not get fooled like this,, at all. besides,, the ''imaging'' will save digging useless holes, as it will read the size, and the icon under ''botletops'' will appear.. i also had a dime ring up, at 2'', reading ''86'' with the AT PRO,, that turned out to be 1 1/2''X2'' peice of a rusty old can. i also fooled with a hole with a lot of tree roots for about 30 minutes,, without finding anything,, that the PRO said was a dime at 2''-even after i had dug it out to 6 ''. i have decided that i am too old and decrepid to fool with the PRO too much more, as it is harder now for me to get up and down for false signals. i will stick with my 1500, as i had bought the PRO for my grandson anyway. i also have a new GOLD on pre order,,, now i'm leery of how that is going to work out. however,, i will be the first to admit that i am not very experienced with these new-fangled contraptions, and have tons to learn. the bottom line for me though,, the 1500 is easier to operate, and is [ for me ] a lots more accurate on ''hits''. the plus for the PRO,, it weighs a pound less than the 1500 i did manage to find 3 clad dimes, and 3 pennies, so i recovered some of the price for admission to the PRO. ------------ i also thought the signals were easier to understand in the ''pro'' mode, as opposed to the ''standard'' mode. it appeared to reject iron objects better, with a low tone. .
