so far i'm impressed! I have better than 9 hrs. on these Batts. and the
meter on the detector still shows a full charge!? I said NO WAY!! and dug
out my test meter, poped out a batt. pack and checked the 4 individual
cells. They averaged 2.1 volts!? With alkaline batts. I'd be down to about
half life of the batts. Only thing I can figure is that these puppies give
up the ghost all at once, thou I don't really know haveing never used um
before. I'll not recharge um till the detector is unusable.
It's going to be awhile before I can get out again. Snowing in the high
country, raining down here, supose to be like this into next week.
What a bummer!!

It's great that Garrett's machines readilly accept rechargeable batteries. Some other makes of machines won't work on the standard recgargeables, so you are forced to buy their rechargeable packs, and they don't come cheap. :( I suspect we will be getting snow soon too. I was out water hunting today and it was cold!

Radio Shack 2000mAH battreys and their 6 Hr. ETL 4 bay charger. Remember Ni-MH
Battreys can't be charged on a Ni-cd charger . I have a friend comming from the East coast and we are going to do some beeping together. So I broke down and charged my battreys. He's toteing a Mine Lab, after all we can't have a M/L out beeping and out lasting a Garrett now can we! :detecting:

I just purchased a charger and a couple sets of batteries. The charger has a selector switch which lets you charge either type battery. Got it at Wally World for about twenty bucks. What happens if you don't have the switch set in the right position? The batteries get really hot I found out! You can't hardly find just the ni-cad batteries anymore or at least I can't locally. Seems the other kind has taken over. I haven't used any of mine yet as I had a really big stash of AA batteries on hand. Nice to know they last well. JIM
