GTI 1500 pinpoint imaging touch pad question?

Hi, Does the GTI 1500 act like the GTP 1350 in which you have to constantly hit the pinpoint/imaging button to make sure you are in disc mode.
Or does the imaging only work when the pinpoint button is held and turned off when pinpoint is released.

The 1500 image touch-pad has to be held down constantly to get a size and depth centered over the targets and stationary. The GTP 1350 touch pad doesn't have to be held, but the profile feature has to be turned on, and the coil must be centered and moving back and forth over the target to get an "A", "B" or "C" sized target size.

Both detectors are fairly accurate in the top 6 inches.
