GTI-1500 or GTI-2500??

This is my first post to this forum, but I've been using a GTAx-1000 for about 6 years and it's been great. I'm wanting to move up to a bigger/better machine and want to stay with Garrett. I've been reading a lot of the pros and cons of the 1500 and 2500, but haven't really seen a comparison between the two. Is the 2500 more powerful than the 1500 or is it basically the same, only with a few more bells and whistles? I'm going for coins mostly, but the occassional ring is nice! Thanks for any input.

HI, I think the depth is the same at 6.5 khz through the line of units. I have a new unused gti 1500 with unsigned warranty card, video, etc. still in box. Also a used,4 hrs, 10x14 dd coil. Shipped for $550.00. Reason for sale, Christmas. Let me know. As stated the detector is BRAND NEW from the garrett factory. Thanks, Ron Burton

Toby is the 2500 has a true ALL-METAL mode that will give you a slight increase in depth over the same machine in any of the discriminate settings.
The 1500 has zero discriminate setting, but it does not turn the disc circuit off. The zero disc and any other setting will only provide the same depth of field.
More money, but if you ask the folks who use the 2500 all metal mode, I think they'll be unanimous in saying they think it far excells any other configuration on the either machine.
Best of luck! BTW, I have both, but don't have enough real world experience to have a preference at this point.

If you're basically a coinshooter the 1500 would suit you fine as a better coinshooter hasn't been made. I have the 1500/1350/550/2500/Infinium and I use the 1500 most of the time. It's afun machine and a real coin getter.

How does the 1350 stack up to the 1500 ???? I have heard the 1350 will not go as deep, but how about the 1350 with the 8 1/2" and 4 1/2" coil, would this set up be better than a 1500 with the 9 1/2 and 4 1/2 coil, in real trashy area's ???? HH....BJ

Weight is also a factor. That extra pound or so of the 2500 takes some getting used to. I use both machines, as well as a 1250. All are great coinshooters and will find the silver rings with ease. No matter which one I'm swinging, I'm in heaven!! I do like the 2500's imaging better, as it's always on compared to the 1500's only imaging with pinpoint on.

The 2500 is bulkier and heavier and has the all metal mode that ID's which has depth to compare with all the big boys on the block,,more bells and whistles, don't want someone talking to me and don't know if they ever fixed it but pinpoint button sticks..
1500 basically supplies a lighter less bulky machine. Both work well for many, but that all metal mode of the 2500 would be a major factor for myself making a decision...Of course the 1500 is easier on the pocketbook which may fit into someones budget easier..

I understand from feedback the new coil on the 1350 is felt to be an improvement and unit will profile with small coils as well, while the 1500 will not image with small coils..As far as depth and trash rejection would depend on the area one would guess.
Basically a new Garrett production with a cheaper price and from all indications seems to work well but again does not offer the 5 image factor but profiles with 3.

The 1250/1350/1500 are basically the same machine with different features respectfully. The 1350 is now equipped with the 6x9 coil which works quite well in trashy areas and has dead on pinpointing. The 4.5 coil would give about the same results on any of the three.
The 1500 9.5 imaging coil works in trash if you raise the coil a couple of inches to narrow the signal cone and scan real slow. You can scan at almost non-motion with these machines.

i may be able to beat that price. i got my 2500, used once or twice, from a friend for $350. i love it.

Yup ,that is an Excellent price. Mine was under $600.00 shipped with 2 extra coils and more. Hope to try it out Thursday. How do you like yours.

hey bob,
i love my 2500. i haven't mastered the AM mode, but i hear it's deeeep. i love the fact that the 2500 images and gives depth readings while scanning. i've taken it to places where i stopped finding oldies and had success. HH!
