GTI 1500 headphone compatability problem

I have a Garrett GTI 1500 with the standard headphones. I bought a pair of Killer B's Hornet headphones and they only have half the volume of the Garrett standard headphones that came with the detector. I am very familiar with the operation of the headphones and the volume of the detector. I went to a local dealer and got a pair of Gray Ghost, with the same results. I was told that Garrett has an internal limiter that causes an issue with some headphones. Is this true?

I also have an Ace 250 and can get full volume with the Killer B's and Gray Ghost. Is there something about the GTI 1500 that keeps the higher end headphones from working up to the full potential? Is there a solution? I would appreciate any insight about this issue.

I use Koss QZ-99 and Sunray Pro Gold headphones with my GTI-1500 and have no problems at all. Both of those types of headphones work the same with the GTI-1500 as they do with my Minelab Explorer, Teknetics T2, and Ground Hawk.

I would check wth Melinda over that issue. Melinda.Harper@garrettt.com I've never had any problems with any earphones operating on Garrrett machines and I own them all

Most oft he high end Garretts have what is called "faint target audio boost" but I don't see how this would effect the earphones in te way you describe.

Bill.

never ever had any problums with my gray ghost originals in any of my garrett tetectors gti 1500 and the gti 2500.
