Triggered by the previous post I, looked into the 1000 and wondered if there is any real difference between this and the 250? Can someone illuminate?

I consider the 1000 to be marginally better on jewelry and relics. It gives you more information, has bi-level audio and my PM series 1000 allows me to use surface-blanking at older, well hunted sites. I use it when I don't want to dig targets in the first 2-3". My 1000 gets really good depth with the 5.5" Hot Head "Ferrett" coil attached, about the same (in mild ground) as the 250 gets at 4 bars and the stock coil affixed.
Depth between the two with the stock coils seems comparable with the 250 having superior target-signal recovery as well handling mineralization/wet beach sand better.
For straight-out coin shooting I prefer the 250, it's a faster machine and the coil has a larger target-response area or "sweet-spot"... covers ground more quickly. Hunting on the beach at Corpus Christi Texas yesterday, the 250 gave better target response on buried coins in the wet sand than the 1000 PM AND the 1500 with the 5x10 elliptical DD coil!
The little 250 continues to amaze me, but both machines have a place in my arsenal.

Hey thanks a lot! Especially the beach hunting bit. I asked about theat earlier this week.
I thought that the surface blanking is a nice thing to have.
Better on jewellry, hmmmm, I haven't found any with my new 250 yet but am thrilled to bits with how it finds coins and anything with copper in it.

Like you ,the 1000 PM still has a place for me. I am really hoping to get the 250 this year myself also.
