GTAx 750 Pinpointing

LouisianaBill

New member
Purchased a Garret GTAx 750 about 6 years ago and one issue is driving up a wall. PINPOINTING! Ihave yet to find the dead center on that coil. Is there a way mark the center on top of the coil? I'm open to any and all ideas. You'd be amazed how many good targets I've unable to locate because of this. Thankas in advance.

A good pinpointer will set you back about 65 bucks. (Bounty Hunter)
A great one will set you back about 135 (Garrett Propointer)
I almost never use the pinpoint function on my detectors anymore.

You have a decent detector there, and I drove a GTA100PM for many years. (Cost me about 800 bucks new)
My $270.00 Delta beats the snot out of the GTA. You might be ready for an upgrade.
(I still ain't giving up my AT4, though)

BTW: Kellyco has a great Ace 250 package that come with the Propointer for 339.00 right now. If I wasn't all fixed up, I'd bite hard on that one.

Thanks for the info. Does Kellyco take tradeins? Mine looks like it just came out of the box. I've purchased my last 4 machines from them.

If you have the old style coil pinpointing is in the center of the coil unless you have a bum coil. If you have the newer black coil pinpointing is not in the center. You center the target side to side then stop and drag the coil straight back until the instant the signal stops. On shallow targets the target will be undfer the front center tip of the inside loop on the coil. If it's deeper the target will be a inch or more back from that point. It takes a little practice but is dead on once you learn how.
