GTAx 750 Pinpoint issue

I purchased a new GTAx 750 about 10 years ago and due to a terminal health issue I was never able to spend any time with it. Until now.
Anyway, I have never been able to pinpoint targets as well as other units over the years. I'm no rookie and this problem is very frustrating for me.
When ever I am in pinpoint mode and using it correctly, my target is always 4 to 5" from where it should be. What am I doing wrong? Please
help a very frustated comrad!
 
So its pp it on the edge of the coil? 4 to 5" is off bad !
