GTAx 550 vs ACE 250

Is there anyone here who has used both extensively? Which would you recommend for a jewelry hunter? I know the GTa550 is marketed as a mid-level detector but it's being phased out. Is the circuitry better than the ACE 250?

Any particular reason? I have a chance to buy a mid-level detector GTAx550 at the same price as the ACE 250 so that's why I'm trying to get as much info as possible. Thanks in advance.

I have field tested both. The 550 field test can be found on the Lost Treasure web site. The 550 is a great little detector and hot on rings but the 250 technology is years ahead of the 550. The 250 is sensitive to jewelry and even moreso if you equip it with the new DD coil. The 550 has been around forever and has served its users well but the 250 or 350 would be your best shot and they pack more features.

Bill.

I used the GTA 500 for many years as a coin and jewellery hunter. It found me thousands of coins. The ACE 250 (ACE 350 even better) is an excellent machine. The large coils will give you great depth for relics, the sniper coil will get you close to playground equipment for rings and the stock coil will do both moderately. The ACE series are newer, lighter with a faster swing speed.
