Greetings from iowa(brrr),Could anyone tell me if i can use the crossfire ll coil with my gta ultra? Thanks for your input. Dennis

Nope, it uses the Crossfire coil. Different connectors. Crossfire II are for the GTAx series.

No, you can only use the Crossfire I coil series. but, it is a great machine.

Thank you guys for the help.Ihave learned alot from this forum.what pinpointers are the best to use.also are grey ghost headphones worth the money? Thanks a bunch, Dennis

if you have a 5 pin "X" pattern on the control module, it's a Crossfire I. If you have a 5 pin "Horseshoe" pattern it's for a Crossfire II. If you can get the Crossfire II cheap, a Garrett dealer can get you a seperate connector and you can change it. Also I sent my GTA 1000 in for repairs and Garrett updated some things and it is a better machine for it.

I have a pair of "Killer Bee" headphones and a TinyTec Deluxe pinpointer. Expensive headphones are kind of overkill when used with a Garrett, in that they are a detector that gives a signal or it doesn't. It doesn't give soft barely audible tones. However, headphones help you concentrate and are really great around outside noise.
My TinyTec will detect to the side and directly below itself. It vibrates so when you are using headphones you don't have to remove them. It also has a light to look into holes or hidden places. It will detect a penny at 1" on high sensitivity but don't touch any moist soil at that setting. No, it just vibrates everywhere you touch soil. It also has auto shut-off when turned upside down. I don't know if they still make them but there was or is a "Periscope" brand that has a probe, is a PI type and will pinpoint at greater distances. There are others out there. Find a club or dealer and try some out.

Arrange with Mary at Garrett to send in the coil to convert the connector. I did and I am better for it, the coil is great and have found some deep ones that my 12 1/2 over looked. I can't wait to get out this spring I have a cherry site that had 3" of topsoil taken off and put into piles the mansion was built in 1854 so you can just image whats waiting.
