GTA 350

A friend want's to sell it to me. It's never been out of the box. I'm just getting into detecting and was wondering if this GTA 350 would be good for a newbie. Jim

From what I'd read about the GTA 350, If I were you I'd spend a little more money and buy a ACE 250. I don't know what your paying for if but for a new person to detecting, I would not buy a detector that 15 years old or more. You can get a new ACE 250 for less than 250 bucks.

You can't beat that deal-if everything works! It only has the standard tone for each signal-no high tones or anything else-but it does have the nice 24 segment ID. You have to program it using the scroll keys to your liking every time you wish to change the discrimination-no preset programs. I found a lot w/mine and it seemed to give the best performance with the disc set low and read the ID for each target-more depth and better response. I have the Ace 250-but for $50 bucks I can't feel right about telling you to pass up this deal-even though it doesn't have the depth and features the Ace has. If I hadn't opened mine up to fix a loose wire and dropped it, ripping the board, I'd still be using mine.:ranting:

Yeah, I'd say if you can get one in perfect shape still in the box for $50.00! You should scoop that up quick! I'd learn it, use it and make it pay for your next machine like the ACE 250!:garrett:

I figured for the price i could'nt pass it up. I pick it up wed. afternoon. Figure it should pay for my new ace 250 by the end of the weekend! Thank's, Jim

Well, good for you bud. Paying for your new ACE 250 by the end of the weekend is a little ambitious for a beginner but I like your enthusiasm!:garrett:

Yeah it's a little long in the tooth but not a bad little tector. Owned one about 137 years ago. It will find coins for you.

Bill

If you do decide to upgrade to the 250 later on, you'll have a nice back up or an extra so that you can share a hunt with a friend.

Long in the tooth is country for "old" or "played out". I dont really need another detector, but if I found a mint garrett GTA anything for $50 bucks I would buy it. You would pay as much for a walmart special. I have a bud with a GTAX550 he wants 185 for it.

Well i went and got my new GTA 350 from my friend. It was his sons. He bought it new in 95 used it for 1 hour and put it back in the box in the garage. Where it sat till i went over. He left the batteries in it so we had to clean up one battery pack. Put new batteries in it and nothing. It would not work. My friend says give me $20. for it and get it out of my garage. So i bring it home , call gareett and have them send me out new packs. Put them in this morning and bam it works great. Heading out to the beach to see what i can find. Jim

Cool! have fun and show the finds!!!
