GTA 350......should I upgrade??...Today's finds

I'm an avid Bass fisherman and I have just gotten back into this "dirty knees" hobby that I love. I have been going as often as possible for the past month.....(when not dodging hurricanes..Lake Charles,La). Most finds have been clad coins and a couple of toy cars from local parks. I think that I am going to hit some of the schools around here, one of which that was shut down just last year and that was built in 1903. I have a GTA 350 I got off of Ebay. Should I upgrade or keep this machine. I know this is an older machine, but is it still as good as say the Ace 250? or would the 250 be an upgrade?.......Todays finds........had to get in an hour or so in my own back yard.......1981 dime and 2006 penny......I need to find some good stuff, but every dig yields "treasure"

THe 350 ain't a bad machine even though Garrett hasn't produced them for many years. I owned one about 137 years ago. BUt it is basically ancient technology and the 250 would be a decided upgrade but if you're finding enough goodies with the 350 to keep you happy then no need to bump up. But the 250 as opposed to the 350 is another world altogether and I'm sure your finds would increase should you upgrade and you would be enjoying the latest technology. Good luck in whatever choice you make.

Yeah, and you get tone ID with the 250 and the FOUR AA batteries last longer than the EIGHT AA on the 350. I did enjoy the extra notches when I had mine- but I got the best performance when I left the disc settings at about foil or iron=more depth and better response. I probably wouldn't have an Ace if I hadn't opened up the detector to dry it out after accidentally dropping it in the lake for a few seconds. I set it on the table near a fan and the darn thing fell off and ripped some of the wiring and surface mount parts out-I still go out to my garage and look at it

Get an ACE 250......if you want more depth, get the 9" x 12" coil. If you like doing playgrounds, get the sniper coil. The ACE 250 is a much better machine then the older GTA 350 and has a reasonable price tag on it too
