Got a used 1000 Ultra off e-bay. Sent it in to Garrett factory for repairs. Got it back and it seems to do OK on the higher conductivity targets (silver and clad), but zinc and below the signals I get sound like popcorn popping instead of a sharp response. I can just barely hear little clicks on zincs, nickles, gold rings and pulltabs. Is this normal or should I send it back to Garrett again?

John... send it back to garrett. Tell Mary what the problem is and I bet she will take care of it for you. Dale

Gonna put it in the box today and send it back. I did find some clad with it the way it is, but i know I missed a bunch too, after I went over the same area with my 250. Good to see the sun again, huh!!

I would push the power on button and hold it in until the detector reset its self to factory settings, and then try it again. If this procedure helps then maybe the previous owner had a program set up just for cherry pickin. This is just a thought, but worth a try.

Tried that, but that's the way it came back from Garrett. Boxed it up Monday and sent it back to Garrett for another checkup. I got my fingers crossed. When I originally sent it to Garrett for repairs, I thought it was dead meat . They got it going again, amazingly. I paid next to nothing for it, so if they can get it up to snuff, I come out ahead, if not, I won't lose much more than the cost of the first repair.
