Gt with new wot coil

Have a friend with Soveriegn ..Gt..got a new wot coil...and is having trouble with it falsing in the salt water.......any help?

turn down the sensitivity. I know guys here that hunt the water with it on their Xcals. They turn their sensitivity down to 4 where as we run them normally around 7. Those are large hot coils and still get great depth. Not keeping or being able to keep the coil close and parallel to the soil is a big cause of the falsing. I know we all hate to turn our macines down..... but sometimes a stable machines at the end of the day gets all the goodies.

If it is falsing as you go in and out of the water, it may be water moving around in the coil cover, I turn mine sideways to empty any water and shake off any droplets on the bottom of the coil when ever I come out of the water.
If it is falsing in the water, you probably will want to beef up coil control, sweeping with the current, and stopping when surge is hitting the coil. keeping a smooth, level sweep is tricky with a big coil in moving water.
It may be worthwhile to try using it on wet sand using a swing assist such as the Detecting Buddy as practice - I prefer using it on wet sand because you can push up the sensitivity some there.
You may have to turn down the sensitivity also as Dew suggested.
Good luck, it is an amazing choice, your friend made a good decision to get it.
