GT vs Etrac

SWMO Mark

New member
I have noticed that most of the guys that are makeing a lot of finds with the Etrac are usually going by the tones instead of the meter. If this is the case, why would wouldnt the GT be just as good as the Etrac. Any opinions would be appreciated.

I have both and while the GT is a very good detector it's no match for the E-Trac in heavy trash. It's true you can use the GT at a snails pace in trash and would probably find the majority of the targets that an E-Trac will, but you'll have to spend 2-3 times as long to cover the same area. That being said, I much prefer the GT on the beach as it's much more comfortable to use for long periods, and with large coils.

As you probably know The GT has slow recovery speed......Hunting with The Gt where targets are spread out, like the beach, sports fields, plowed fields ...... it's not a issue

Targets that are somewhat near each other (and I'M not talking a trashy site) The slow recovery dives me nuts, I use other machines for that type of hunting
