GT stand-?

Who sells a nice stand for the GT? I'm not really wild about the MineLab engineers idea about setting the GT box down in the mud and the sand while digging. You would think that they would have a little trepidation about water and sand damage?

I saw a clip-on model that Dixie has but it has little short stubby legs that look as though they would not do the job in deep soft beach sand.

Thanks again.

Has a nice Y stand that mounts on the back of your pole but I tell you what, the bungee knuckle that comes standard on the Minelab GP detectors is a little slideon adaptor bracket that can be used to mount anything. I used 3 to mount my Excal pods to a straight pole, I used 1 to mount my Patriot meter on my straight shaft pole and you could use 1 to mount any leg setup your imagination designs for you anywhere on the forarm part of your pole. The original use of this little adaptor is to hook the bungee cord from your pole to your chest harness to take the weight from the GP so you can swing it all day, Doc has em or probably any dealer can get them for you, Doc probably is tired of sending them to me, but they work!!!...If you look closely at the the Excal photo, just forward of the handle you will see one of the knuckles pointed down, this is one I can use a bungee cord with, If I want to so so...HH...Geo

i saw a friend of mine that has the short stubby stand and i thought the same . looked at how it was made which was a good starting point. i went to home depot and for about 2.00 in pvc fittings made a stand with longer legs. they also sell different feet for it. took me all of about an hour . all the work was slicing the top of a 1/2 pvc tee so it will snap on to the shaft. then spray painting it flat black. thats what dixie does.

Attached photo show my version of what Stan is talking about.
Looks ugly (no paint) but works good.

Like Stan says - its easy.

I used a curved piece of PVC elec conduit. The legs are cut to the width of the box. Does not tip. Does not interfere with my swing. Its out of the way. Actually seems to helps balance.

The meter mount and extension I worked out to get the meter closer to my face (vision problem). Looks dumb but works for me.
Hey its my ray-gun and what I shoot with it doesn't seem to mind :detecting:.

The extension can be cut to any reasonable length and is not cemented in place. It can be adjusted for better viewing in bright sunlight by twisting in place, which I often do to shade light on the screen. Another advantage is the calibration knob is fully protected and not easily knocked out of sinc.

If I had druthers I would purchase the Dixie joystick meter mount combo, for mounting the meter, it looks like a winner, but it wouldn't work for me.
