GT Sovereign Mod, Almost done!

Old California

New member
Been working on a Sov mod the past month, Almost completed just a few minor touch ups with remounting a few push buttons/switches and such onto the new face panel. Overall the detector is well balanced and with the 5"X10" coil is a joy to swing, This will be mainly used for Gold Jewelry hunting and for surface clad from schools and such, For deep turn silver will remount the larger coil.

Will post pics of the meter assembly when completed, This was a Joe Patrick meter one of the best if not the best Sov meter out there.

Swweeet! Good to see your still one step ahead of the pack!! I was thinking about the same coil on my Excalibur but went with the Sunray-5 for the trash area's

Thanks Beechnut,

Never seen a 5" coil on an Excalibur bet that get's great separation, Yours must be the first great idea! Thought about getting the SunRay 5" coil like yours but was after both separation and coverage so went with the Elliptical coil, So far think it's going to be a good combo.

Will post more pics later when the meter assembly is completed, Switched the Patriot meter to a Smaller meter housing the wiring is done now just need to transfer the guts over and then add back the Patriot decals.

Thanks again,
Paul (Ca)

Paul is that coil waterproof or like the Joey coil, more like water resistant?

Hello Neil,

Sorry for the slow reply, just now seen the post.

I don't think the coil is waterproof only water resistant, good coil and since purshasing this coil understand NEL has them for the sovereign too those may be waterproof.

Take care Neil,
Paul
