GT / SE question

Is there any reason for me to keep my SovereignGT now that I have an Explore SE ?? Is there anything that the GT will do better than the SE ?

Thanks,

Julien

I personally think its all about the user at that point Julien, If you master the SE then you will always do better than the dude with the sovereign, but if you master the GT then you will do better then the dude with the explorer, If you are hunting with a dude who has mastered the GT and a dude that has mastered the SE then in my opinion they will usually do about the same, The SE has the GT beat on target ID at depth , the target Id on the GT falls off at deeper depths, where the SE still seems to hang on. This is all my opinion of course, BUT to me they are both capable of finding super deep coins. I have to give the edge to the SE, But for me the sov. gives up nothing to the SE, I have hunted with some Real solid explorer Hunter and at the days end or deep coin count was nearly the same, and I located targets they swore they couldnt hear and Vice versa , My buddy called me to check out a deepie and I couldnt hear squat, he proceeded to dig a Merc right before my eyes, I called him over to hear a deepie and he said its a iron ''piss'' target .......I then proceeded to dig a merc. Just pick one and master that SOB and you will do well either way......

They are both great detectors and for me I like to hunt parks and ballfields and do get a few yard too once in a while. I find I will always have my Sovereign of one model with the GT my favorite for the reason I know what the detector is telling me. The SE is good too as you can tell the silver from the clad most of the time, but I find I dig much more iron trash that is iffy where the GT I find very little iron trash and can tell the better signals better plus I find I can ID a good target deeper with the GT, but that is me. I have did some signal comparison with James and Tim up here in ND on actual targets and I find many of the target they say is a deep coin I say it is iron and I am right. Only a couple of time where they have got a good signal I couldn't get and it was a good target.
I think bottom line like Adam says is getting to know the detector is what makes the difference on these 2 detectors and once you master one or the other it will be the one you do the best with. For me the Sovereigns are the ones I do the best with and even after using the F-75 most of the summer I find the Sovereign will pick out coins the F-75 walks right over, but that is because I know the Sovereign better and what it is telling me. The Sovereign is more of a turn on a go detector while the Explorers are more for those that like to change settings for the area they are in, so they may be a little harder to learn as what will work the best for the area you are at. I like them both and they both do well for me, but at this time if I had to chose one or the other I would still have my Sovereign.

I'm going to retire next year and just might have to come out west for a bit...

I am going to hold onto both of them for a while.

Hey Julien -

I just bought a GT from Dixie Detectors for a beach trip coming up. Maybe you can show me how to use it -

I found some probable site to hit near me... wanna do some detecting this weekend?

Terry

Yeah, I called you last week. we are playing phone tag I think. I am not going to have much weekend time for a few weeks but we will find some time. I am moving next weekend and the following week is going to be hectic.

Call me or i'll call you again. Are you ever available during the week in the afternoon?
