I need to hear from anyone has owned both the Sovereign Elite and Sovereign GT. Can you tell which you like best and why? Thank's
Tom

I have used them both myself and both are great detectors. The GT is the new model that has the new straight shaft for better balance and added the silent search for those that need it. It also has the new Fast trac for those that like to use it in all metal mode and can be used for gold hunting. This does not work in disc as it uses the BBS the Sovereigns are famous for. The GT comes with a rechargeable battery and charger, but no meter as that is a separate accessory to buy.
Now the Elite dont have this silent search mode switch, so if you want this you have to open up the control box and have it done. On the GT you can turn it on or off when you want. I never thought I would like this feature, but found it handy in those area where targets are far and few between so you dont have to listen for that low tone of iron before it sees the next target. I used it a few times when needed, but like the threshold more for my type of hunting. The Elite does have a toggle switch to turn off the multi tones so everything has one tone no mater what the target is, I found no use for it in my coin hunting, but some like it for beach hunting. The Elite has a meter that comes with it that uses the 550 number, but many will put a kit in it so they have the 180 numbers which we find more stable numbers. The Elite dont have the rechargeable battery or charger that comes with as it is a added on accessory.
Performance are close to the same, but I feel the GT is a bit more sensitive and seems to give a better signal for me on the deeper target.
Price wise I feel new or used the GT will cost you a bit more, but you will have the latest Sovereign series made with the most updated software available.
One thing to remember is to be good with the Sovereigns you have to take the time to learn it, but when you do you will be surprised at what they can do.

Good Luck
Rick
