GT mods

Is anyone familiar with the "mods" or "tune up" that David at Dixie metal detectors does? How does it improve the detector? I'd really appreciate replies from folks that have used "before and after" and if you can see a difference. What are the Pros and Cons?

The GT seems to have the mods people want on their Elite.

If your first machine is the Elite, with the mods, and you like it, great. If you try the GT after, then you will want it set up the same as the Elite. It will take a while for you to try to learn the GT, as the Sovereigns were originally designed.

I have grown to like the threshold tone. I have learned to listen to nulls, and try to check them every so often to be sure.

I have an Elite with the mods from Dixie, and I absolutly love that machine. It has teh silent search feature, and the tone was raised just a bit. I have also learned that if I raise my threshold tone, on the Elite, to just defeat the silent search feature, the machine workes like my GT. I get the threshold tone and it nulls over iron.

The one mod I think is worth something is the remote pin-point switch.

The mods I know of the David does on the older Sovereigns is set it for silent threshold and turns the tones up, but he may do others too. Now with the GT you have the switch to set for silent search already, so you can go either way if you want. Now the tones set higher just didn't work for me as it was hard to tell the difference in the tones, but some it will work good with the higher tones. I like the threshold as I can tell more about a signal, plus go deeper for me as I have tried the Mod on one of the XS I had and found I did better without it, but that is just me too.
Maybe I am set in my ways, but I find the tones the way they are work the best, the threshold is a must for me for the deeper signals, the 180 meter I can tell more about the target too as the way the Sovereign GT was designed has worked the best for me as i tried the silent search and the higher tones and even the 550 meter, but nothing worked as good as what it was set at,but like I say that is me.
Now let see others that have tried both think.David knows his detectors and maybe what he does works the best for him too, and maybe others too.

you need to do it yourself or send it off to someone who knows how.

I sent you a PM as well.
