GT, First Long Hunt

RLOH

Well-known member
I spent 5 hours using the GT at a park that I have been hunting for 5 years with every detector imagineable and I came away impressed. 16 wheat pennies, 2 silver dimes(one merc and one roosie), and 30 clad coins. Also, a couple of dog tags. Believe it or not, all the wheats and silver coins were 8 inches or more deep. This detector will go get the deep coins. I can't run the sens any less than the 12 oclock postion in manual. I could run my old xs2apro at 9 or 10 oclock postion anywhere I hunted. That is not the case with the GT. I had my old Sovereign dialed in on nickles, but even with the Sunray meter, I haven't dug a nickle one. Anything that locks on in the nickle range on the meter is a wad of foil. I will get it figured out. This detector is as deep and accurate as the Explorer 11 that I sold last spring. I was hoping that it would feel lighter than the other Minelabs that I have owned, but once you get it loaded up with Sunray acc. , it is still heavy. I have tried hip mounting, but I like to travel light. I feel like I am hooked up to an IV when I hip mount. A super detector! R.L.
